Plan de Salud Hospital Alemán is one of the main prepaid medicine companies in Argentina with more than 48,000 members. It has a headquarters in the city of Buenos Aires.

2. Requirement & Context

The Hospital Alemán health plan has implemented home care programs and day hospitals aimed at patients with difficulties in outpatient follow-up, disabling diseases, complex comorbidities, severe functional impairment or older adults with frailty criteria.

The objective of these programs is to improve the quality of care of those patients who are considered under this modality. For this, management systems are required for the admission of new patients to one of the programs, monitoring and control of the benefits performed, coordination of tasks and benefits to be performed.

3. Implemented Solution

To provide a solution to these requirements, we have implemented 2 systems, a mobile app designed for those professionals who carry out practices in the patient's home. On the other hand, a core web system was implemented aimed at solving all administrative circuits using our Workflow Compustrom ® flow management tool, thanks to its versatility and scalability, it was easily adapted to the needs surveyed.

Web system

Aimed at administrative staff, its main objective is to identify each task to be carried out in each administrative circuit, automatically assigning a single manager and time to complete it. In this way, bottlenecks can be identified, compliance checks can be carried out and the situation in each task can be easily identified.

In this way the following functionalities have been developed

  • Task dashboard and messaging system

  • Admission of new patients to determine their initial situation and needs, authorize their admission and, if authorized, initiate the required tasks

  • Geolocation of admitted patients

  • Manage the requirements that arise from admission and during the follow-up of the beneficiary contemplated in a certain program such as assignment of professionals for their treatment, referrals to medical centers, transfers, referral of implements and enteral nutrition

  • Registration of professional home service providers and providers

  • Control and reporting tools


Dashboard of pending tasks you will prioritize. It allows the clerk to easily see what issues still need to be resolved and refer him to someone else if necessary.  

Assignment of professionals with georeferenced patients. The map provides information from professionals assigned to other patients around whom they are working.


Interactive map of patient registry. It has filters by program to see the distribution of the reached patients.

Interactive transfer schedule. It has status filters.

Mobile App

The need arises for professionals who carry out internships at home, to report their visits through an application instead of printed forms, which generate a lot of administrative burden. It is also required to know in real time what visits have been made and have the possibility to record notes and consult data from the assigned patient.

The obvious solution was to implement a mobile web progressive app, so that it is not necessary to install it on the mobile and does not require updates, maintaining the features that a native app offers. This app uses the GPS of the professional's smartphone and works even when offline, recording data locally and sending it as soon as it recovers 4G signal.

4. Impact

Improvement in the quality of service for 800 patients admitted to different programs. It was possible to establish fluid communication between all actors of differents administrative circuits, professionals who carry out practices at home and differents health centers. Significant reduction of downtime improving the response to a request.

5. Results

A reduction in costs has been demonstrated by optimizing home visits thanks to the georeferencing of the patients assigned to each patient. On the other hand, the administrative processes have been optimized so that with the same amount of human resources the number of patients reached by a special program could be expanded so that a reduction in inpatients and consultations attended on call is expected.
